As LED technology continues to evolve, the list of applications where LED was thought to be impractical, shortens. Recent increases in performance, and some very creative optical designs, have put LED in a position to compete directly against most versions of conventional light sources. An LED fixture with 20,000 lumens was not on the radar 2 years ago, but it exists today. What will 18-24 additional months mean to the design parameters of LED? As consultants and engineers become more comfortable with the technology, and more end users request LED by name, the industry will continue to respond favorably and quickly driven by the leaders in lamp design and production.
